The role:

We are seeking a Skilled CNC Programmer with strong Siemens control experience to join our CNC team in Rugby. You will be instrumental in preparing, programming, and optimising CNC machine tool programmes to produce high-precision components. This role combines programming expertise with practical understanding of machining processes to support a varied workload including precision parts, breakdown jobs and bespoke engineering solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Programme and optimise CNC machining operations (milling and turning) using Siemens controls.
  • Convert engineering drawings and 3D CAD models into efficient, accurate CNC programs.
  • Support machine setup, tool selection, offsets and fixtures to ensure reliable machining.
  • Collaborate with the production team to improve cycle times, reduce wastage and achieve quality targets.
  • Conduct first article inspections and adjust programs based on feedback and results.
  • Troubleshoot machining issues and advise on practical solutions to meet customer and production requirements.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of programs and revisions.

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Proven experience programming CNC machines, specifically with Siemens control systems.
  • Strong understanding of CNC machining principles including milling, turning and multi-axis operations.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, GD&T and engineering specifications.
  • Experience with CAM software and offline programming tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail and quality.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team-oriented workshop.

Desirable Attributes:

  • Previous experience in a high-mix precision engineering environment.
  • Proficiency with CAD/CAM systems (e.g., SolidCAM, Siemens NX, Fusion 360 or equivalent).
  • Understanding of lean/workflow optimisation principles.
  • Knowledge of CNC setup and operation.
