Job Purpose:
Rocket Staffing are looking for a passionate and experienced Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive to join our client’s Children and Families Public Law department. This is an excellent opportunity to take on a caseload of care proceedings, contributing to the growth and reputation of the department. You will work towards achieving demanding targets while making a positive impact in the local community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a caseload of child protection matters, ensuring high-quality legal services.
  • Represent clients in advocacy and hearings.
  • Draft and prepare court documentation, briefs, correspondence, and statements of evidence.
  • Maintain efficient case management and file documentation in accordance with firm procedures.
  • Record time in line with the firm’s policy and prepare bills as necessary.
  • Attend court hearings alongside counsel and support clients.
  • Provide mentorship and support to junior members of the department.
  • Build and manage your own caseload through proactive case development.
  • Contribute to business development activities and marketing efforts for the department.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and follow instructions from Directors or Heads of Departments as needed.

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Proven experience working in a care department, either as a Paralegal or Trainee Solicitor.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Windows, Word, and Outlook, with good keyboard skills.
  • Accreditation from the Law Society’s Children’s Panel is preferred but not essential.
  • Strong relationships with CAFCASS and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with quality and case management systems (e.g., Lexcel and Tikit).
  • Proactive, customer-focused, and a team player.
  • Ability to handle sensitive situations and clients in a professional, confidential manner.
  • Solid understanding of Children and Families Public Law and relevant legislation.
  • Experience with public funding procedures is advantageous.
  • A driving licence and access to a vehicle for travel between offices, courts, and stakeholders is preferable.
