Job Title: Accounts Assistant

Location: Peterborough

Salary: £28,000 – £30,000 per annum (depending on experience)

Working Hours: 39 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Job Description: We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Accounts Assistant to join our team in Peterborough. In this role, you will be responsible for a variety of accounting tasks, ensuring the smooth operation of our financial processes. Your main duties will include:

• Managing fixed assets and inter-company accounting processes
• Assisting with monthly margin analysis and providing commercial interpretation of the numbers
• Conducting balance sheet reconciliations and variance analysis
• Supporting the improvement of processes and systems
• Assisting Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions
• Producing journals for prepayments and accruals
• Regularly assisting with month-end accounts production
• Preparing management accounts
• Assisting with audits and performing general office duties
• Updating exchange rates in the ERP system
• Maintaining the Fixed Assets Register
• Raising cheques and approving bank payments as required
• Managing the company’s cash flow

Essential Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:

• Actively studying AAT/ACCA or qualified by experience as an assistant accountant
• At least 1 year of experience in an accountancy industry or practice setting
• Proficient in using Excel and accountancy software
• Effective communication skills and a willingness to learn new skills
• Experience with VAT returns and reconciliations is advantageous but not essential
